Bouncy Ball Kids (Parenting Tip #1)

About a month ago while grabbing Peanut from his crib, I notice something. It was one of those somethings that should be classified as a light-heartedly disturbing. Peanut was attempting to climb out of his crib. As I went about changing his infamous dirty butt I heard a little voice. It simple said this: It’s time for the big boy bed. Unfortunately the voice was drowned out by Peanut’s infectious giggles which are always distracting & we went about the rest of our hectic.

A few days went by & I went about my business of attempting to be Supermom & failing miserably. I didn’t think much about that tiny voice again. My thoughts were overtaken by diaper rash, filling sippy cups with milk, cutting food into bite size pieces & wrestle matches of Big Mama vs Little Peanut.

It was a Sunday around noon. Turns out it was one of those days that I will never forget. I put Peanut down for his nap. About 20 minutes later I realized that he wasn’t feeling naptime was busy banging his bottle against his crib. I mentioned to the Daddy that Peanut was not sleeping. I also reminded Daddy that Peanut possessed the necessary skills to climb out of his crib & ended the conversation with I’m taking a shower.

I’m sure you already guessed what happened next. My glorious hot relaxing shower was rudely interrupted by the following sounds: a loud thump, a toddler scream & a daddy’s frantic footsteps running down the hall. Of course I jumped out of the shower immediately & ran into Peanut’s room. It turns out my kid’s pretty tough & escaped without a single scratch or bruise. Needless to say we converted the crib to his toddler bed that day.

Parenting Rule #1: Kids are like bouncy balls. They hit the ground bounce right back up...Well, most of the time at least.

  1. Toddler bed? Already? Man, I know three year olds who still sleep in their crib! That Zac has always been right at the front of the curve...

Also, Andy's dirty butt is pretty infamous, too. Another thing in common!
